A First Class Indian Adventure Part 5: A Bandit’s Retreat On The Backwaters Of Alleppey

They say that true luxury is doing the simple things well. To some that may mean a marble bathroom, high thread counts or Michelin starred cuisine and whilst I love all these things this was not the luxury on offer at Our Land. Instead we were surrounded by nature on our own little island in the Alleppey backwaters where three times a day we’d be served the most exquisite freshly cooked and caught South Indian food. All simple and executed to perfection. Continue reading A First Class Indian Adventure Part 5: A Bandit’s Retreat On The Backwaters Of Alleppey

A First Class Indian Adventure Part 4: Fishing Nets And Food Poisoning In Fort Cochin

Whilst we had a bit of a nightmare stay at the Aloft, being able to get online again was invaluable as not only did we discover the preventable reason for the hotel messing up our station pick up, but more importantly we were able to check up on our train departures. Booking the leg from Coimbatore to Kochi had been a bit of a nightmare … Continue reading A First Class Indian Adventure Part 4: Fishing Nets And Food Poisoning In Fort Cochin

Eloping To Japan With A Little HEL On The Side Part 10: The Villages Of The Hida Mountains

We started the day with breakfast at the station from the ‘French’ bakery DONQ that we’d been eyeing up the night before. Whilst Anne-So went for some classic French options with her coffee I went for a more colourful collection of Japanese buns. Both food and drink were rather good and we made a note to return the following day. Before getting our coach I … Continue reading Eloping To Japan With A Little HEL On The Side Part 10: The Villages Of The Hida Mountains

Apparently hot dogs are a popular breakfast item in Japan and who am I to argue! The food was well packaged for our trip on the shinkansen to Hiroshima.
